08/08/14 Grace - now known as Sophie was adopted out back in early xxxx by a loving couple and she learned to trust them and became a good companion for them. Since then they have now added a child into the household and unfortunately the child is highly allergic to Sophie. So even though they hate to they must rehome Sophie for the health of their child. Here is the information we have about Sophie as provided by her home for the last 4 years. Sophie is now 5 years old and weighs 11 pounds. She has never had any medical issues in the past 4 years. She is housebroken to use potty pads because they are often gone for 9 hours a day and she can't hold herself that long. She has not been crated since living with them. She does not really enjoy playing with toys. She is more of a couch potato/lap dog. She likes her chew treats though. She does not really like leash walking and would do best with a fenced in yard. She likes to ride in the car but likes to be on your lap in the car too. She has been around other female dogs and is OK with them but has not been around male dogs or cats. She prefers women over men but will warm up to men it just takes her longer. Sophie is used to sleeping in an open crate in the laundry room at night. She eats very fast and will over eat if allowed to so measured portions are a must for her. She is very timid around strangers, she hides until they are gone, but she is also protective and will charge and bark if she thinks they are a threat. She isn't very playful. She prefers to just sit with you, but she does get very excited when she sees you and will run around crazy and jump up on you. She still takes patience and time adjusting to new situations but if you have patience and give her time, she settles in to a new environment just fine. She is even getting over her fear of larger dogs. Grace will make some lucky family an excellent companion but patience will be a must in her new home. She is a very sweet dog and will just melt your heart to see how loving she is after everything she has been through. She has learned to potty outside and loves running and playing with the other dogs in her foster home. She still does not care for a leash and luckily the foster home has a fenced in yard so she has not been leash trained yet. Grace has been with us since 6/27/09.Grace was surrendered by her owner because the other dogs kept attacking her. Grace needs a home that will have some patience with her fears. She has grown up in constant fear of being attacked, so it does take her awhile to warm up. She has been in her current foster home for about 6 weeks. She runs and plays with them. She has learned to trust a majority of their smaller dogs, but still is very defensive with bigger dogs. Big brown dogs to be more specific. She does fine with the children in the home, they are 8 and 10.Grace has learned to wear a collar but hasn't learned to walk on a leash yet. Her foster family uses an exercise pen for outside potty breaks.
